Everything you need, nothing you don't
Stays on your device
Your photos are converted in your browser. They are never uploaded to a server.
Whole folders at once
On a computer, pick or drop a folder and every HEIC photo inside is added, subfolders included.
Right way up
Photos taken sideways or upside down come out the correct way round.
Colors that look right
Wide-color iPhone photos (Display P3) are converted to standard sRGB so they look right in ordinary apps.
You control size and quality
Pick a quality preset, aim for about 500 KB, 1 MB or 2 MB, or resize to 2560, 1920 or 1280 px. Photos are never resized unless you choose it.
You decide about location
Date taken and camera details can be kept. Location (GPS) is removed unless you turn it on.
Good to know: JPG can't store transparency, so see-through areas are filled with white. PNG and WebP keep transparency. Date, camera and location details can be kept in JPG and JPEG files only. You get the main photo from each file; extras such as Live Photo video are not included.
Who it's for
iPhone & iPad users
Sending photos to a Windows PC, an Android phone, or an app that won't open HEIC.
Bloggers & sellers
Uploading product or post photos to a website or marketplace that only accepts JPG.
Anyone with a big folder
Converting a whole trip or event at once, then downloading it as one ZIP.
Privacy-minded people
Keeping personal photos on your own device, with location data removed by default.
Why convert HEIC to JPEG?
HEIC (also called HEIF) is the photo format iPhones and some Android phones use by default. It keeps files small, but plenty of apps, websites, printers and older computers still expect a regular JPG (JPEG) file. Converting HEIC to JPG means your photo opens, uploads and prints almost everywhere.
If you only need a quick fix on an iPhone, you can also switch the camera to Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible, which saves new photos as JPG. This tool is handy for the photos you already have.
Troubleshooting HEIC to JPG problems
My file says it is not a HEIC image
The file may have been renamed, or it may already be a JPG or PNG. Open its properties to check the type. If your iPhone shared it through an app that converts photos automatically, the copy you received may already be a JPG.
The converter says the file is damaged
That usually means the download or transfer did not finish. Send or export the photo again, for example with AirDrop, a cable, or by saving it from iCloud to your device first. Files that are only placeholders in cloud storage need to be downloaded before you can convert them.
A large photo fails on my phone
Very large photos need a lot of memory. Try converting that photo on its own, close other tabs, or use a computer. Photos above 100 megapixels are not supported.
My phone gave me a JPG when I picked the photo
Some phones convert photos to JPG when you choose them from the photo library. Picking the file from the Files app instead usually gives you the original HEIC.
HEIC to JPG converter FAQ
Is this HEIC to JPG converter free?
Yes. You can convert photos without paying or creating an account.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your photos are processed in your browser on your own device. The converter does not send them to a server or to any third party.
How many photos can I convert at once?
On a computer, up to 300 photos or 3 GB at a time, each up to 50 MB. On phones and tablets the limit is 100 photos. If you have more, convert one batch, download it, and add the next.
Can I convert a whole folder?
Yes. On a computer, use Choose a folder or drag a folder onto the upload box. Every HEIC photo inside it, including subfolders, is added, and other file types are skipped. The ZIP download keeps your folder structure. Phones and tablets usually cannot pick folders, so select multiple photos instead.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG or WebP instead of JPG?
Yes. Use the Save as menu to choose JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, but photos usually become much larger. WebP keeps transparency and is smaller than JPG, but a few older apps and printers cannot open it, and a browser that cannot create WebP will tell you so. JPG and JPEG are the same format; only the file extension differs.
How do I make the converted file smaller, for example under 1 MB?
Choose a target size (500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB or your own) for JPG, JPEG or WebP. The converter lowers the quality, but never below 45%, to get as close as it can, then shows the real size of every file. A target can't always be reached. If it isn't, you can tick the option to also make the photo smaller, or pick a larger target. Photos are only resized if you choose it.
What JPG quality should I choose?
The Balanced preset (92%) looks the same as the original to most people and keeps files a sensible size. Choose High quality if you plan to edit the photo further, or Smaller file if size matters more. Quality changes how much the photo is compressed; it does not guarantee a particular file size.
Why is my JPG bigger than my HEIC?
HEIC compresses photos more efficiently than JPG, so a JPG with the same visual quality is usually larger. The converter shows the exact difference for each file. Lowering the quality, choosing a target size, using WebP or resizing makes it smaller.
Is HEIC the same as HEIF?
They are closely related. HEIF is the container format and HEIC is the version that usually holds photos compressed with HEVC (the type iPhones use). This converter accepts files ending in .heic, .heif and .hif.
Will the JPG keep my photo's date and location?
You choose. In JPG and JPEG files the date taken and camera details are kept by default, and location is removed unless you tick the location option. Details are only kept when the original file contains them. PNG and WebP files are saved without them.
Can I convert HEIC on Windows, Mac, Android or iPhone?
Yes, in any modern browser that supports Web Workers and WebAssembly. There is nothing to install.
